The Man Who Never Said No

Joe Eamer

Best Man

Same building in Orange County, then every stage after it.

Joe Eamer
you'd call me an idiot, then drag me out anyway
A letter to JoeSame building, OC

Joe,

I moved to Orange County not knowing a soul. Somehow, you ended up living in the same building as me, and my life has never been the same.

You are a friend I can always depend on and rely on—someone who never believes in holding back and whose way of thinking I have often found myself trying to adopt. You and I have always been yin and yang. I sometimes wonder: If I could go back in time and buy Bitcoin, but it meant never becoming friends with Joe, would I do it? I wouldn't. Ever.

You have left a date to come play Rocket League with me. I can always rely on you being there — whether it is billiards lessons no matter how bad I was, talking shit about life, or knowing exactly how to bring me up when I need it. And through everything, you have always been a brother to me.

Throughout all of our adventures, you have never once said no. Even when I said no to going somewhere, you would simply show up, call me an idiot, and make me go anyway. You have also taught me enough British English that I could probably be confused for someone from London.

I genuinely cannot imagine my life without you as a friend, man. I am so unbelievably lucky that we found each other.

P.S. — Will try my best to have you there to buy my next car so you can spill in it.

Will you be my best man?

Always, — The Groom
